Chuck Walker (2)
One of Chicago’s finest and most prolific artists, Chuck Walker is a master of the face and a genius of the body. Even a still life of a full-skirted dress looks ready to slip off its hanger and perform a seductive dance. While many of his depict figures inhabit recognizable, everyday settings, such as bedrooms, kitchens, and sidewalks, Chuck’s vision adds complexity to the images people perceive on the surface. His painting shimmer with tones of earth, mineral, blood and shroud. Whether poised in action or inaction, Chuck’s subjects are flesh-heavy and complete. His drawings are equally arresting, showing an impeccable sense of line reminiscent of Toulouse Lautrec.
An alumnus of the School of Art Institute of Chicago, Chuck’s work has been exhibited at the Rockford Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Contemporary Center for Art in St. Louis.
